Description

Added to everything from pumpkin pie to coffee each fall, pumpkin spice is THE flavour of fall in the US. Here, the blend is readily sold in stores and available in small jars. However, it is easy to make your own at home. Here is a simple recipe to show you how.

Ingredients

Scale

4 tablespoons ground cinnamon

4 teaspoons ground nutmeg

3 teaspoons ground ginger

3 teaspoons ground cloves

1 teaspoon allspice

1/4 teaspoon cardamom (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out and mix all spices together. Store in an airtight jar/ container and use as needed.

Notes

*Get creative in how you use the spice and what you add it to. I’d love to hear about any successful discoveries!

  • Hi Angela,

Please can you tell me what ” 1 teaspoon allspice” is for the pumpkin spice?

    Thanks so much,
    Tammy

    • Hi Tammy,
Ground allspice is made from allspice berries. I’ve had a look at a couple of South African grocery store websites, and you should be able to find it in the spice aisle of your local store.
